Pacific Seabirds Archive

Pacific Seabirds is the official publication of the Pacific Seabird Group (PSG). The publication began as the Pacific Seabirds Bulletin (1974—1993) and the name was changed to Pacific Seabirds in 1994. The publication serves to provide members with recent news on financial reports, annual meetings, regional reports, conservation news, special events, awards, decisions of the PSG, and more, plus archive this information for all members.

Seabird and conservation news items are welcome on any topic relating to Pacific seabirds or to their conservation. Every year, Regional Representatives contact members in their region for an annual update on research and activities related to seabirds. If you have a manuscript that you want to publish, please contact the Communications Committee or Marine Ornithology.

From 1974—2013, Pacific Seabirds was printed twice yearly, spring and fall (except 2011), and sent to members and institutions. Due to rising costs of printing and mailing, and the nearly universal accessibility of the internet, the PSG Executive Council sent out a survey to members in 2014 to determine how best to serve the membership in terms of receiving the Pacific Seabirds publication and content to provide. With support from the majority of members, a decision was made to no longer produce printed copies and in general, not to publish peer-reviewed manuscripts. In 2014—2016,  spring and fall issues were combined in one volume and published at the end of the calendar year. In 2017, twice yearly publications resumed. In 2023, Pacific Seabirds began a transition to a hybrid online publication. Pacific Seabirds is available on the PSG website.
