Job Opening: Wildlife Biologist (HI)

A Wildlife Biologist position is available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands. This position is located at Pohakuloa Training Area on the Big Island in Hawaii.

The biologist implements management actions to meet the objectives of the Wildlife program. The biologist supports daily field tasks as assigned and implements protocols to manage native Hawaiian animal species, including endangered birds, bats and insects, manage wildlife habitats, and control small mammalian predators and other threats to sensitive wildlife species. The biologist is responsible for monitoring project success and data collection, management and reporting associated with tasks. The biologist assists with annual monitoring of birds by sight and sound. The biologist may be required to handle native fauna and pest species as part of management. The biologist works with a suite of electronic surveillance equipment to monitor targeted wildlife species. The biologist is supervised by the Wildlife Program Manager and primarily works as part of a field crew, but also works alone. The position averages up to approximately 75% of time in the field.
