Job Opening: Waterbird Biologist (HI)

Hamer Environmental is looking to hire a full-time, temporary biologist with Hawaiian waterbird experience. Deadline to apply: ASAP!

  • Must have at least an undergraduate degree in biological sciences, environmental science, ecology, or related science, AND
  • Must have a minimum of one year experience monitoring nests/behavior of protected waterbird species, performing natural resource field inventories, and carrying out monitoring studies and mitigation surveys.
  • Prefer resident living on the island of Oahu (work is located near the Kaneohe Nu’upia Ponds) with knowledge and experience monitoring Hawaiian waterbirds of Oahu.
  • Must have reliable transportation to the job site.
  • Must be able to pass a federal background check.
  • Work would begin immediately; 8-hours/day (8am to 5pm); 5 days/week; pay is dependent upon experience.
  • Must be able to stand/walk/negotiate uneven terrain and work within and around construction equipment and personnel.
  • Work would commence April 2022 (but is likely to go longer).
  • Necessary field gear will be supplied.
