E komo mai!
The Pacific Seabird Group Annual Meeting is back in Hawai‘i for 2019! The 46th Annual Meeting will take place on the verdant island of Kaua‘i from the 28th of February to the 2nd of March, 2019, at the Aqua Kaua’i Beach Resort!
While you could just walk out of the conference venue onto the coastline to watch the sunrise and morning commute of the ‘A (boobies), we recommend that you also “dive in” to the line-up of exciting events that the local committee is planning to compliment the scientific program. This year’s field trips will offer a range of adventure and, of course, the unique seabird encounters for which Kaua‘i is known. Don’t forget to pack your slippahs (sandals or flip-flops, if you prefer) for the welcome reception, student-mentor mixer, silent auction and plenty of opportunities to network with colleagues on beautiful Kaua‘i.
We are excited for another fantastic scientific program tying together this year’s theme with discussions and presentations on topics related to seabird ecology, behaviour, conservation and management. Seabird research and conservation has never been more critical, and we look forward to PSG members and guests sharing their latest findings, ideas and innovations to advance the conservation of Pacific seabirds.
National and international flights arrive daily on seven airlines to the Lihue Airport. You can choose to rent a car from one of eight vendors or take the complimentary shuttle from the conference hotel, the Aqua Kaua’i Beach Resort. We suggest contacting the conference hotel directly to reserve a room under the group rate called “Pacific Seabird Group“. Please book now to secure your accommodation – February is peak travel season in Hawai’i!
Please contact the Local Committee Chair if you have any questions. We’re looking forward to seeing you in Hawai‘i!
Aloha!
