Paid Technician: Common Murre Restoration Project (CA)

The Common Murre Restoration Project is seeking up to three (pending available funding) Wildlife Technician positions to conduct monitoring of breeding seabirds including Common Murre, Brandt’s Cormorant, Pelagic Cormorant, Western Gull, Black Oystercatcher, and Pigeon Guillemot along the central California coast. Listed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN’s Red List, Chinese Crested Tern’s global population is estimated to be around 100 individuals. To save this rare seabird from extinction, experts across the region, including The Hong Kong Bird Watching Society, have been actively engaging in research and conservation over the years. Projects initiated included breeding colony restoration and satellite tracking study.
