Archipelago Research and Conservation LLC (ARC) is hiring a 9-month full time position to help with research and management activities for the recovery of native fauna in the Pacific, with a particular focus on surveys to document distribution and relative abundance of seabirds across Kaua‘i, burrow checks, management tasks, and data entry and analysis of field data. Deadline to apply: 1/15/2023.
Archipelago Research and Conservation LLC (ARC) is hiring a 9-month full time position to help with research and management activities for the recovery of native fauna in the Pacific, with a particular focus on the endangered Newell’s Shearwater (Puffinus newelli), Hawaiian Petrel (Pterodroma sandwichensis), and Band-rumped Storm-petrel (Oceanodroma castro) on the island of Kaua‘i. Oikonos Ecosystem Knowledge is seeking a seasonal field ecologist who is passionate about seabird conservation and community to work with their project at Año Nuevo Island, on the central California coast. The Common Murre Restoration Project is seeking up to three (pending available funding) Site Leader positions to conduct monitoring of breeding seabirds including Common Murre, Brandt’s Cormorant, Pelagic Cormorant, Western Gull, Black Oystercatcher, and Pigeon Guillemot along the central California coast. Listed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN’s Red List, Chinese Crested Tern’s global population is estimated to be around 100 individuals. To save this rare seabird from extinction, experts across the region, including The Hong Kong Bird Watching Society, have been actively engaging in research and conservation over the years. Projects initiated included breeding colony restoration and satellite tracking study.
