Thanks for joining us at PSG 2021!

It’s been just over a month since our first-ever Virtual Annual Meeting: PSG 2021. It was a hectic week, but as the dust settled, we are realizing just how great an event it was. The numbers speak for themselves!

  • 416 seabirders participated from around the Pacific and around the world. Participants logged in from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, India, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and the U.S.A. (Mainland, Alaska, and Hawaii)!
  • Our amazing plenaries had up to 386 viewers each!
  • “Scenes from the Field” virtual field trips were incredibly popular as well, with each watched by up to 251 viewers!
  • Some of our newer events were wildly successful as well. Field Fails, for example, had 166 viewers!!
  • Our first ever DEI session entitled “Implicit Bias, Privilege, and DEI – What does Seabird Research Need to Know” attracted 271 participants
  • The online silent Auktion generated $3,023 for student travel to future meetings
  • Even our standard meetings were well attended, with 166 members attending the Members Meeting
  • The Early Career Scientist Panel attracted 102 participants!
  • And finally, we made our mark in the Twitter-sphere: The PSG account tweeted 61 times, earned 92,400 impressions, garnered 4,360 profile visits, were mentioned 93 times, and gained 69 new followers!

These numbers tell us that the meeting was successful and well-attended. But don’t take our word for it. Please share your opinions and help us improve future meetings by participating in our post-meeting survey, coming out soon! And don’t forget: all registered attendees can watch content for SIX MONTHS after the meeting! That’s all the way into August!

Thanks to everyone for making PSG 2021 a success. Even by just showing up and enjoying the content you supported this and future meetings.

Hoping to see you in person in 2022!

Sincerely,

Roberta and your PSG 2021 Planning Team
