PSG 2024 – Reminders!
We’re just two weeks away from the Annual Meeting! To make sure that you’re ready to go, please read through the information below containing news, announcements, and reminders about PSG 2024.
PSG 2024 Agenda and Schedule: The PSG Agenda and Schedule are live! Click here to check out everything that we have planned for the Annual Meeting. In addition, we have information about poster presentations available here. And, don’t forget to check out our Scientific Program Highlights here.
PSG 2024 Lodging: The Grand Hyatt Seattle is fully booked for PSG 2024. If you have not booked any lodging yet, we suggest that you join the #room-share-chat on Slack to coordinate lodging with other attendees. In addition, we have listed other places to stay on our website here.
PSG 2024 Closing Celebration: In the last week, we have received a few emails asking about the details of this year’s closing ceremonies. Read on to have all your questions answered!
As always, the last night of our conference will be one of celebration. Those attendees who purchased tickets to the “Banquet” (hereafter known as Closing Celebration) will start the evening at 6:30pm with desserts and two complimentary drink coupons (not dinner) accompanied by a live band. The traditional awards program will start at 8:00pm, at which point we will open the doors to all attendees. As is customary, the awards will be followed by music and dancing, with a cash bar.
We understand that folks who have attended previous conferences may have expected to receive a full dinner on-site this evening. This year, the organizers decided that the cost for that kind of event would be a significant barrier to attending, particularly for early career scientists and student attendees. Instead, we have reduced the ticket fee and focused on the best parts of a celebration—the dessert and dancing! In our conference schedule, we have left time to grab dinner before the Closing Celebration begins. Click here to buy your Closing Celebration tickets.
Welcome Night (Tuesday, February 20th, 6-9pm): This year’s Welcome Night event will be at Flatstick Pub in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood, not far from the conference venue (approximately 1 mile [1.6 kilometers], easy transit on the South Lake Union Streetcar). This event venue features indoor miniature golf and duffleboard (a mix between shuffleboard and miniature golf). Food and beverages will be provided! Come play some games and connect with PSG colleagues! More info here.
PSG 2024 Merchandise: We have some amazing merchandise available with this year’s Annual Meeting logo! Please order your merchandise by February 10th to ensure that it is available for pick-up at the Annual Meeting. Check out our Online Store here!
Silent AUKtion: We’re still collecting donations for this year’s in-person Silent AUKtion! If you have something that you would like to donate, fill out our form here. Popular AUKtion items that you can donate include seabird or marine-themed artwork, photographs, crafts, books and field guides, clothing, field gear, and any interesting seabird or marine-themed memorabilia. Don’t let this list limit you! We’re open to creative, new ideas for AUKtion items and experiences! Click here for more information.
Clothing and Gear Swap: Clean out your closets and give your gently-used field clothing and gear a second life! This year, the EID Committee will be running a clothing and gear swap table in the back of the main plenary room (Leonesa Ballroom). Donations will be accepted at registration or directly at the swap table. Students and early-career researchers can select gear from the donation table on Wednesday and Thursday, and the table will be open to all attendees on Friday. Any items remaining at the close of the meeting will be donated to the West Seattle Food Bank.
See you at PSG 2024!
