PSG 2023 – Last-minute Reminders

PSG 2023 is almost here! We wanted to share a few reminders for both presenters and attendees ahead of the meeting.

  • Each oral presentation has a 20-minute timeslot; speakers should keep their presentations to 15 minutes or less and allow 5 minutes for questions and time to transition to the next speaker.
  • Posters should be a maximum size of 40″H x 40″W. Posters will need to be set up between 10:00am-12:00pm on Thursday, February 16th, 2023. Poster must be removed from site by 9:00pm on Thursday, February 16th, 2023.
  • We encourage anyone with a Twitter handle to share updates from the meeting using the hashtag #PSG2022. You can also follow and mention @PacificSeabirds. If you would like to encourage mentions of your work, please include your Twitter handle on your opening (and closing) slides.
  • Conversely, if you prefer that your presentation not be tweeted, please say so at the beginning of your talk. PSG’s own designated Tweeters will be tweeting live from the conference! If there are specific slides in your presentation that you do not want us to share via social media, please indicate them with a “not allowed” symbol.
  • You’ll be able to upload your presentation slides in the Samuel H. Scripps Auditorium from 8:00am-12:00pm (noon) on Tuesday, February 14th and on the conference days as well.
  • Please note that parking at/near the conference venue will be very difficult. Scripps Forum is on the campus of UCSD, so there is no parking on the campus without a permit. The surrounding area can be very popular with beachgoers. There is a great walking path from La Jolla Shores Hotel to the venue that we encourage you to take (~10 minute walk). It has great opportunities to check out wildlife along the walk. Also, for the Banquet at Birch Aquarium, please consider carpooling or using local transportation.

  • Meeting swag and banquet tickets are available for purchase here until February 14th. The Banquet will be held at the Birch Aquarium on Friday, February 17th from 6:00-10:00 pm, with award presentations starting at 7:30pm.
