Internship with USFWS – Oregon

This full-time, Wildlife Biology Internship offers the opportunity to gain field experience conducting bird surveys and a variety of other biological field techniques.

The Intern will be supervised by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Refuge Biologist. The Intern will work under the supervision of the Refuge Biologist to conduct waterfowl and seabird surveys, assist with wildlife management programs, and conduct public outreach activities. The primary duties of the Intern will be to conduct weekly Canada geese (Branta canadensis) surveys at Nestucca Bay National Wildlife Refuge and seabird monitoring surveys on established plots at Cape Perpetua and Cape Falcon. Secondary duties will include conducting black oystercatcher (Haematopus bachmani) surveys along the Oregon coast and assisting the Biologist with a variety of other field and data entry tasks. The intern will also lead volunteers (up to 20 individuals) that assist with seabird monitoring which includes scheduling, instructing, and organizing volunteer efforts.
