In remembrance: PSG Member, Wednesday Davis
Tragically, we lost PSG member, Wednesday Davis on Saturday, June 29th to an accident.
Wednesday Davis was a PSG member since 2022 and was a passionate seabird scientist. Her Masters work involved studying foraging workups in the Hauraki Gulf, New Zealand where she developed tools and AI to study the foraging behaviours and workups of seabirds and cetaceans. Wednesday Davis presented her masters results online at the PSG 2022 annual meeting. She absolutely adored her work with seabirds and set up the much needed avenue of research on seabird foraging workups using AI for future students at the University of Auckland.
Wednesday Davis was passionate about all things marine life and founded the University of Auckland’s Marine Science Society, a social society promoting the education of marine science at the University of Auckland. Not only was she a Kupe Scholar and a Y25 alumni, but she was also an accomplished researcher and beautiful person. She was always keen to help other students even with their research whether it was on seabird light pollution or looking at seabird brains.
We are all greatly saddened by the loss of her far too soon. Rest in peace, Wednesday Davis.
