Job Opening: COASST Program Assistant (WA)
The Program Assistant will work as part of a team completing duties related to the recruitment and retention of participants in the Coastal Observation and Seabird Survey Team (COASST) beached bird and marine debris survey programs. This part-time position may lead to a full time job opportunity, pending funding and pandemic restrictions to in-person work. Responsibilities include: serve as the primary point of contact for citizen scientist participants via email and phone, offering guidance on beach assignments for new participants and survey support for current participants; compile supporting documents and assist in the composition of a monthly newsletter for COASST participants and partners; assist in the recruitment to and coordination of the COASST undergraduate internship program, which facilitates communication between the Program Assistant and nearly 800 participants; maintain inventory of kit materials and supplies for participants; maintain records of participant interaction, program outreach, trainings, and withdrawals; use the COASST database interface to update and query participant information; verify data entered in non-bird seabird surveys; co-host virtual events for COASST participants. Desired Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Fisheries or other related biological science. Experience with Microsoft Suite, Excel/Spreadsheets.
