Call for proposals – PSG 2018!
Second call for Special Paper Sessions and Symposia proposals. Due 18 Aug 2017.
Would you like to organize or co-organize a Special Paper Session or Symposium?
Do you have suggestions for a plenary speaker? Please submit your proposals by 18 Aug 2017
Have fun organizing a Special Paper Session (SPS)!
A SPS is a coherent set of 6-18 presentations. They typically include a series of relevant studies with an overview presentation to bring together experts in a particular field. If time, there is discussion or Q&A at the end of the Session. Examples of SPS include species-specific t0pics such as “How cool is the Guadalupe Murrelet?”, or broader topics such as “Marine Spatial Planning and Seabirds”. An SPS could also be composed entirely of student papers on a specific topic to highlight student research and get feedback from seabird colleagues. So many possibilities! Please see the Past Annual Meetings to see SPS in previous years.
Symposium: get those papers published!
A Symposium is a coherent set of papers designed to be published, thus everyone contributing to the Symposium also needs to prepare a paper for publication afterwards. Symposia have a synthetic overview or broad topical coverage, and typically have invited speakers to advance a particular topic (e.g., The Value of Long-term Studies: Insight & Synthesis, PSG 2017). Please email the Scientific Program Chair for a SPS/Symposium application. Do your best to complete the form with all the names, contact info and presentation titles. Write if you have questions, need help, or want feedback. By the August deadline, most session chairs will likely not have all of the Special Paper Session speakers and Symposium participants confirmed, and that’s okay. Once your proposal is accepted, you will need to provide a short description of the session or symposium for the meeting website and the scientific program and your contact information. Sessions or symposia may be open to all members (Open) or invitation only (Invited), and this will be noted in the registration process. If your session is Open and speaking spots are available, it will be listed in the dropdown menu. Interested presenters will need to contact Session or Symposium Chairs to confirm that their talk is consistent with the purpose of a session or symposium. If your session features only invited speakers, it will be noted in the selection choice as “Invited”. Chairs will invite each speaker and they will submit their abstracts during the call for abstracts.
All speakers must submit their abstracts online during the call for abstracts, and register. Confirmation of acceptance will be sent by the Scientific Program Chair. All presenters are encouraged to register during Early Bird Registration.
Do you have a great idea for a Plenary Speaker?
To suggest a Plenary Speaker, please submit a name, contact information, and presentation topic to Scientific Program Chair.
Stay tuned for the First Call for Abstracts in September 2017. Please contact the Program Chair if you have questions or would like help with your proposal en inglés o en español
