In 2024, The Seabird Oceanography Lab (Suzanne Winquist), in collaboration with Dr. Katie Dugger and Point Blue Conservation Science, conducted monitoring and biologging device deployments at the Cape Royds and Cape Crozier Adélie Penguin (Pygoscelis adeliae) colonies in the Ross Sea, Antarctica. Multiple years of data from video loggers and depth/acceleration devices deployed on breeding Adélie Penguins are being used to investigate the foraging behavior and energetics of chick-provisioning adults, particularly in relation to fine-scale sea ice conditions.
